Bob Gower

Bob Gower is Managing Director for Organizational Effectiveness at changeforce, and one of the world's most sought-after experts on high-performing teams.

Early in his career, Bob witnessed firsthand how poorly constructed organizations can turn toxic quickly, which resulted in bad products, financial ruin, and a negative impact on fellow members. Expertise in what he’s coined “Radical Alignment” stems directly from this experience and has driven his impassioned work influencing systemic change.

As a leading voice on agile development, lean theory, and responsive organizational design, Bob has authored two books: "Agile Business" and "Radical Alignment."

He has advised leaders at numerous globally recognized companies, including the New York Public Radio, General Assembly, Salesforce, Ericsson, General Electric, Ford, and Spotify.

Bob holds an MBA in Sustainable Management and frequently keynotes conferences and lectures at educational institutions on what it takes to ethically build great teams and organizations.

A More Personal Bio

Now that we have the professional stuff out of the way let me tell you a bit about myself — for real.

My life has been interesting and varied. I’ve and called Philadelphia, West Virginia, Arizona, Alaska, Japan, California and NYC home. I’ve worked in factories, and as a taxi driver, carpenter, stonemason, and newspaper designer.

I’ve travelled overland from Bangkok to Hanoi, hitchhiked the US, Europe and Asia, traveled by bicycle, bus, train, truck, tuk tuk, motorcycle, boat, and ship — including a winter trip across the East China Sea.

I’ve played traditional Irish music in pubs, meditated in ancient temples, climbed mountains, spelunked caves, explored cities and wilderness — and always followed my curiosity.

I have a BA in Philosophy, an MBA in Sustainable Management, and am certified as a Positive Psychology Practitioner. I’ve lectured at universities, taught in institutes, and managed product in Silicon Valley.

Since 2011 I’ve been based in Fort Greene, Brooklyn with my wife (artist, author, coach, and Oscar-nominated filmmaker) Alex Jamieson, our son Laken, and cats Kiwi and Clementine.

I arrived at my current work in org design via an interest in solving tough problems and making the world a better place. There is no work more interesting and impactful than helping humans work together in healthy and productive ways. It’s the most important work of our time (in my humble opinion of course).
